ARTIST NOTES: The splendid blue plumage of the superb fairy-wren is almost certainly the reason it is often referred to as a favourite among the Australian birds. This work depicts three wrens basking in some highly sought warmth under a winter sun.

Kelly North’s work has been described as classic realism. She works primarily with graphite pencils and watercolour on paper, occasionally combining these with gouache, coloured pencils, acrylic, or oil paints. She enjoys portraying fine details in textures and surfaces and pays special attention to light, form, and space when composing original work. 

North currently works and resides in Melbourne, Australia.
