ARTIST BIO

Robyn's work is primarily a result of her need to paint.   It is a challenge, an outlet and her life's passion.

Her formal training, in the tonal impressionist style, over a period of more than 30 years, began in 1985.  Consisting of continuous classes and workships with renowned artists such as Carmel Mahoney, Keeming Shen, Peter Smales, Shirley Bourne, Ben Winspear and many more.

She is a member of the Malvern Artist Society and a former member of the Bendigo Artist Society.

'Still Life' is her love.  Aiming always to paint from life because of the beautiful subtleties of light this presents.  Her works are a series of underpaintings built up in layers until there is finally nothing more to add.  Striving always to maintain a freshness, a luminosity and keeping a balance between technique and emotion.

She has won awards and her paintings are represented in many private collections, but exhibiting has not been a motivating factor behind Robyn's works.  She paints solely and simply for the joy and challenge of successfully capturing beautiful subjects on canvas.

Influence and inspiration has come from the French and American Impressionists, Bonnard, Manet, Vuillard, Singer-Sargeant and the modern Russian master Bato Dugarzhapov.

She resides in Melbourne and devotes her life to her passion, oil painting.
