ARTIST BIO

Born in Sydney, 1984, Australian artist Alison Ferrett has always had a love for art.  After completing a Diploma of Fine Arts at Cambelltown TAFE (2004), she decided to move to London and explore the world. However Alison has also experiences digestive and heath issues from childhood, which travelling only exacerbated. This added stress limited her mood, mind and creativity.

Alison’s travels have taught her about life and what’s important to her - Art, fun, play and community.  Now calling Melbourne home, Alison has been inspired by its creative and vibrant hum. Coupled with prioritizing health, the creativity has come flooding back into her life – “I want to paint and draw everyday and want to focus my energy on my art making practice”

Another (unexpected) new source of support and inspiration has been the Melbourne hula hoop community. The prominence of circles Alison’s art is just one of the influences of hooping. The encouraging and playful hula hoop community has a large online presence - many hoopers use social media to share photos, videos and tutorials. This inspiration has given Alison the confidence to share her art online as well.

Alison has set herself the challenge of posting artwork online everyday. Finding this routine incredibly motivating, it has helped develop consistency, quality, practical techniques, subject matter and a process for developing large pieces. You can view Alison's work on instragram @ali_hoop_pants or #365daysofcircleplay
